Ancient olive mill in Alcaucín (Malaga / Andalusia)
Before the professional cultivation of avocado and mango came to Axarquía not so many years ago, it was mainly almond and olive trees that shaped the landscape on the Costa del Sol. Even today, particularly in the interior of the Axarquía, there are impressive testimonies of that era - in the form of ancient olive trees, for example, which are perched on the rugged, sometimes barren slopes like relics of a bygone era steeped in history.
Alcaucín was also an important olive growing area for centuries; So it is no wonder that the old olive mill that we would like to present to you is right here.
Overall, the authentic Andalusian complex consists of two parts: the first is a rustic, almost 140m² house with three bedrooms, a bathroom, an open kitchen and a salon with a fireplace. Particularly impressive is the approximately 50m² terrace with south orientation, under which there is a double garage with additional storage space.
Only a stone's throw away is the second part, the actual mill - which is still functional today; All machines for the production of olive oil as well as the centerpiece, the millstone weighing tons, are still available. But of course the building - whose plastering hides a beautiful natural stone wall that can be uncovered at any time - can be converted for all conceivable purposes.
Whether studio, workshop or even a small country hotel: on a total of 468m² of living space, every wish can be fulfilled in the ancient walls of the two buildings. In addition, 712 of the approximately 3,600 m² large terrain can still be built on - for example with a modern villa, a traditional Cortijo or even a two-family house with a maximum size of 356 m².
